FAQs
A full planning application is a request for permission to carry out a specific development. It sets out the full details of what is being proposed, including plans, designs, and supporting information.
A listed building consent application is permission needed to make changes to a protected (listed) building, ensuring any works respect its historic and architectural character.
We are hoping to submit the full planning application to London Borough of Hounslow later in 2025, once we have spoken to the community and finalised our proposals.
The proposals aim to modernise and futureproof the boathouse. After nearly 90 years of use, the building no longer meets current training requirements. Upgrading the facilities will improve sustainability, provide modern training spaces and help the club remain competitive in supporting top rowing talent.
The works cannot begin until a planning and listed building consent application is submitted and a decision has been made by the Council. If permission is granted, we will share more information about the expected start date and how long the works will take. The University of London will review timing for construction following planning approval in coordination with the boat club to manage continuity for the boathouse members.

Yes, once a planning and listed building consent application is submitted and validated, neighbours and stakeholders will have an opportunity to send comments directly to the Council.
